2008 Monroe County-wide

Prayer Initiative

------------------------------

January, 2008

Dear City of Rochester and/or Monroe County Resident,

The 2007 Monroe County-wide Prayer Initiative, with the theme “Touching Heaven in 2007”, has been a resounding success – connecting hundreds in praying for our community throughout this past year.

For 2008, The BridGe Network is happy to introduce the county-wide prayer initiative with the theme Rochester Prays” - in the form of a wall calendar that will be distributed as a free gift throughout the community.

Employing a collective, yet flexible strategy of prayer, the 2008 prayer calendar will result in participants systematically praying for almost every neighborhood in the City of Rochester, as well as, every town and village in Monroe County.

Weekly “community profiles” will be made available for each “community of focus” on our website: www.bridgerochester.org , or via email. If you want to receive a weekly profile via email, simply send a message to prayer@bridgerochester.org , and we will add you to the email list.

I look forward to joining you in prayer for our community during 2008, and thank-you in advance for your participation  and faithfulness.

Sincerely,

Luis

Rev. Luis A. Perez, LMSW

Network Overseer

·      “Pray without ceasing” – I Thessalonians 5:17

·      “Prayer of a righteous man…” – James 5:16

·      “If my people will humble themselves and pray…” – II Chronicles 7:14

·       I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone— for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. --I Timothy 2:1-2

Goals of the Prayer Initiative

Engage as many individuals / households as possible in praying for our community.

Pray for all 28 town, villages and every neighborhood in the City of Rochester

Connect people by communities or focus (education, government, etc.) to agree together
(Matthew 18:19) .

Mobilize a county-wide prayer army that connects the body of Christ by region or municipality.

The one concern of the devil is to keep Christians from praying. He fears nothing from prayerless studies, prayerless work, and prayerless religion. He laughs at our toil, mocks at our wisdom, but trembles when we pray.
--Samuel Chadwick
